But every year we do something for you Jews. We let one man go free from the prison at the time of your Passover festival. Do you want me to let the king of the Jews go free?’

But every year a man who is in prison is allowed to go free at the special religious gathering to remember how the Jews left Egypt. Do you want the King of the Jews to go free?”

Your custom is that I should release a prisoner to you each year in honor of the Passover celebration; shall I release the King of the Jews to you?
But you have a custom of asking me to release someone from prison each year at Passover. So if you want me to, I’ll release the ‘King of the Jews.’”
But according to your custom, I release one prisoner to you at Passover. Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

Pilate said, “What is truth?” Then he went back out to the Jews and told them, “I find nothing wrong in this man. It’s your custom that I pardon one prisoner at Passover. Do you want me to pardon the ‘King of the Jews’?”
But you have a custom that I release one prisoner to you at the Passover. So do you want me to release the King of the Jews for you?”

But it is a custom to you, that I deliver one to you in pask; therefore will ye that I deliver to you the king of Jews? [Forsooth it is a custom to you, that I let go, or deliver, one to you in pask; therefore will ye that I dismiss to you the king of Jews?]
“But look here: you’ve got this custom that I should let someone free at Passover-time. So what about it? Would you like me to release ‘The King of the Jews’?”
And since I usually set a prisoner free for you at Passover, would you like for me to set free the king of the Jews?”
But you have a custom that I should release one man for you at the Passover; will you have me release for you the King of the Jews?”
To which Pilate retorted, “What is ‘truth’?” and went straight out again to the Jews and said: “I find nothing criminal about him at all. But I have an arrangement with you to set one prisoner free at Passover time. Do you wish me then to set free for you the ‘king of the Jews’?”
But you have a custom that I release someone for you at the Passover. Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?”

But you have a practice at Passover time. At that time, you ask me to set one prisoner free for you. Do you want me to set ‘the king of the Jews’ free?”

But at the Passover Feast you always want me to let one prisoner go free for you. Do you want me to let the King of the Jews go free?'

But there is a minhag (custom) for you, that I may release one to you during the Pesach. Do you want, therefore, that I release to you the Melech HaYehudim?
You have a custom that I should free one person for you at Passover. Would you like me to free the king of the Jews for you?”
