But, in fact, you are longing to kill me, a man who has spoken to you the truth which I have heard from God. Abraham did not do that.

From what I see you are trying to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth that comes from the Father. This is not something Abraham would do,

But instead you are trying to kill me—and all because I told you the truth I heard from God. Abraham wouldn’t do a thing like that!

And yet here you are trying to kill me, a man who has spoken to you the truth he got straight from God! Abraham never did that sort of thing. You persist in repeating the works of your father.” They said, “We’re not bastards. We have a legitimate father: the one and only God.”

But now you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard at the side of God. Abraham did not do this.

Instead, you want to kill me for telling you the truth that God gave me. Abraham never did anything like that.

“Our father is Abraham!” they retorted. “If you were the children of Abraham, you would do the sort of things Abraham did. No, you are doing your father’s work.” “We are not illegitimate!” they retorted. “We have one Father—God.”
