But I say to you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

Jesus then said, ‘I say this to you who are listening carefully to me: Love the people who want to hurt you. Do good things to people that hate you.

`But I say to you who are hearing, Love your enemies, do good to those hating you,

“I say to you who hear Me, love those who work against you. Do good to those who hate you.

“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies. Do well to those who hate you.

If you’re listening, here’s My message: Keep loving your enemies no matter what they do. Keep doing good to those who hate you.

“Listen, all of you. Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you.

But I say to you who are listening now to Me: [in order to heed, make it a practice to] love your enemies, treat well (do good to, act nobly toward) those who detest you and pursue you with hatred,

“To you who are ready for the truth, I say this: Love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the supple moves of prayer for that person. If someone slaps you in the face, stand there and take it. If someone grabs your shirt, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it. If someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more payback. Live generously.

“But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you.

“But this is my word,” Jesus continued, “for those of you who are listening: love your enemies! Do good to people who hate you!
