“But,” they said, “Not on the feast day, or else there may be unrest among the people.”
Jewish Leaders: We can’t do it during the festivals. It might create an uproar.
“But we can’t do it during the Passover,” they said, “or there will be a riot.”
They said, “It must not occur during the feast, or the people may begin to riot.”

In only two days the eight-day Festival of Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread would begin. The high priests and religion scholars were looking for a way they could seize Jesus by stealth and kill him. They agreed that it should not be done during Passover Week. “We don’t want the crowds up in arms,” they said.
“Certainly not during the Festival,” they said, “or there will be a riot among the people.”
but they were saying, “Not during the festival, lest there be an uproar among the people.”

In two days’ time the festival of the Passover and of unleavened bread was due. Consequently, the chief priests and the scribes were trying to think of some trick by which they could get Jesus into their power and have him executed. “But it must not be during the festival,” they said, “or there will be a riot.”

For they were saying, Not at the Chag, for fear that a riot break out among the am haaretz.
However, they said, “We shouldn’t arrest him during the festival, or else there will be a riot among the people.”
But they said “Not on the feast day, lest there will be an uproar among the people.”
They said, “But we cannot arrest Jesus during the festival. We don’t want the people to be angry and cause a riot.”
But they said, “We must not do it during the feast. The people might cause a riot.”
For they said, “Not at the feast, lest there be an uproar by the people.”
‘But not during the festival,’ they said, ‘or the people may riot.’
For they were saying, “Not during the Feast, so that there will not perhaps be an uproar of the people”.
