And they were ashamed of Him and turned away because of Him. Jesus said to them, “One who speaks for God is shown no respect in his own town and in his own house.”

They were offended by Him—by His teachings, by who He was. Jesus: Prophets are respected—except in their hometowns and in their own households. There the prophet is dishonored.
And they became angry with him! Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own country, and among his own people!”
And so they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is always treated with honor except in his hometown and in his own house.”
And they were taking offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.”

And they took offense at Him [they were repelled and hindered from acknowledging His authority, and caused to stumble]. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.

When Jesus finished telling these stories, he left there, returned to his hometown, and gave a lecture in the meetinghouse. He stole the show, impressing everyone. “We had no idea he was this good!” they said. “How did he get so wise, get such ability?” But in the next breath they were cutting him down: “We’ve known him since he was a kid; he’s the carpenter’s son. We know his mother, Mary. We know his brothers James and Joseph, Simon and Judas. All his sisters live here. Who does he think he is?” They got all bent out of shape.
And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own hometown and in his own house.”

And so they were offended in him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honour [A prophet is not without worship], but in his own country, and in his own house.
They were offended by him. So Jesus said to them, “No prophet lacks respect—except in his own town and his own house!”
So the people were upset because of what he was doing. But Jesus said, “Prophets are honored by everyone, except the people of their hometown and their own family.”
And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.”
When Jesus had finished these parables he left the place, and came into his own country. Here he taught the people in their own synagogue, till in their amazement they said, “Where does this man get his wisdom and these powers? He’s only the carpenter’s son. Isn’t Mary his mother, and aren’t James, Joseph, Simon and Judas his brothers? And aren’t all his sisters living here with us? Where did he get all this?” And they were deeply offended with him. But Jesus said to them, “No prophet goes unhonoured except in his own country and in his own home!”

And they were taking offense at Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach. But Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said to them, A Navi (prophet) is not without honor except in his hometown and in his bais.
So they took offense at him. But Yeshua said to them, “The only place a prophet isn’t honored is in his hometown and in his own house.”

So they had a problem accepting him. But Jesus said to them, “People everywhere give honor to a prophet, but in his own town or in his own home a prophet does not get any honor.”
