κἀγὼ δέ σοι λέγω ὅτι σὺ εἶ Πέτρος, καὶ ἐπὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ οἰκοδομήσω μου τὴν ἐκκλησίαν, καὶ πύλαι ᾅδου οὐ κατισχύσουσιν αὐτῆς·

et ego dico tibi quia tu es Petrus et super hanc petram aedificabo ecclesiam meam et portae inferi non praevalebunt adversum eam

And I say also to you, That you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

I tell you this. You are called Peter, which means a rock. And I will build my church on this rock. Not even the power of death will destroy my church.

This is why I have called you Peter (rock): for on this rock I will build My church. The church will reign triumphant even at the gates of hell.

And I tell you, you are Peter [Greek, Petros—a large piece of rock], and on this rock [Greek, petra—a huge rock like Gibraltar] I will build My church, and the gates of Hades (the powers of the infernal region) shall not overpower it [or be strong to its detriment or hold out against it].

So I tell you, you are Peter. On this rock I will build my church, and the power of death will not be able to defeat it.

Jesus came back, “God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah! You didn’t get that answer out of books or from teachers. My Father in heaven, God himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am. And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not overpower it.

And I · say to you, you are Peter, and on this · rock I will build my · church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

And I’ve got something to tell you, too: you are Peter, the rock, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell won’t overpower it.

So I will call you Peter, which means “a rock.” On this rock I will build my church, and death itself will not have any power over it.

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.

“Simon, son of Jonah, you are a fortunate man indeed!” said Jesus, “for it was not your own nature but my Heavenly Father who has revealed this truth to you! Now I tell you that you are Peter the rock, and it is on this rock that I am going to found my Church, and the powers of death will never prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of Heaven; whatever you forbid on earth will be what is forbidden in Heaven and whatever you permit on earth will be what is permitted in Heaven!” Then he impressed on his disciples that they should not tell anyone that he was Christ.

So I tell you, you are Peter [C the Greek petros, like the Aramaic cephas, means “rock” or “stone”]. On this rock I will build my church, and the ·power of death [L gates of Hades/the underworld] will not be able to ·defeat [overpower; conquer; prevail against] it.

And I also tell you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My community; and the gates of Sheol will not overpower it.

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.

Here is what I tell you. You are Peter. On this rock I will build my church. The gates of hell will not be strong enough to destroy it.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

I also tell you this: you are Kefa,” [which means ‘Rock,’] “and on this rock I will build my Community, and the gates of Sh’ol will not overcome it.

I tell you this. You are Peter. On this rock I will build my church. The power of death will not destroy it.

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

And I also say to you that you are Shimon Kefa [Petros] and upon this TSUR I will build my Kehillah, my Chavurah (the Community of Moshiach) and the shaarei Sheol (gates of Sheol) shall not overpower it.

You are Peter, and I can guarantee that on this rock I will build my church. And the gates of hell will not overpower it.

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

So I tell you, you are Peter. And I will build my church on this rock. The power of death will not be able to defeat my church.
