Then Jesus told all the 12 disciples to come to him. He said to them, ‘You know the things that rulers of other countries do. They show that they have great power over their people. The leaders of those countries use great authority over their people.
and Jesus having called them near, said, `Ye have known that the rulers of the nations do exercise lordship over them, and those great do exercise authority over them,
Jesus called them to Him and said, “You know how the kings of the nations show their power to the people. Important leaders use their power over the people.
Therefore Jesus called them to Him, and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them. And those who are great, exercise authority over them.
So Jesus called the disciples together. Jesus: Do you want the Kingdom run like the Romans run their kingdom? Their rulers have great power over the people, but God the Father doesn’t play by the Romans’ rules.
But Jesus called them together and said, “Among the heathen, kings are tyrants and each minor official lords it over those beneath him.
But Jesus called them over and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones make their authority over them felt.

When the ten others heard about this, they lost their tempers, thoroughly disgusted with the two brothers. So Jesus got them together to settle things down. He said, “You’ve observed how godless rulers throw their weight around, how quickly a little power goes to their heads. It’s not going to be that way with you. Whoever wants to be great must become a servant. Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not be served—and then to give away his life in exchange for the many who are held hostage.” * * *

But Jesus called them together. “You know how it is with pagan rulers,” he said. “They lord it over their subjects. They get all high and mighty and let everybody know it.

No, whoever among you wants to be great must become the servant of you all, and if he wants to be first among you he must be your slave—just as the Son of Man has not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life to set many others free.”
