Then you say, 'If we had lived at the time of our ancestors, we would not have helped to murder the prophets.'

and you say, If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn't have taken part with them in shedding the prophets' blood.'

Then you say, 'If we had been living in the days of our ancestors, we would have had no part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'

And you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have participated with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'

and say, 'If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'

And you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'

Then you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would never have joined them in killing the prophets.'

And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

and your boast is, "'If we had lived in the time of our forefathers, we should not have been implicated with them in the murder of the Prophets.'

and say, 'If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn't have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.'

You say, “Our ancestors killed God's prophets long ago. If we had lived at that time, we would not have helped our ancestors to do that.”

and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

You say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our early fathers, we would not have helped kill the early preachers.’

“and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in the blood of the Prophets.’

And you say, “If we had lived when our forefathers lived, we would have known better—we would not have joined them when they rose up against the prophets.”

“Yes, woe to you, Pharisees, and you religious leaders—hypocrites! For you build monuments to the prophets killed by your fathers and lay flowers on the graves of the godly men they destroyed, and say, ‘We certainly would never have acted as our fathers did.’

and you say, ‘If we had lived in the time of our ancestors, we never would have collaborated with them in shedding the blood of the Prophets.’

and say, ‘If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we wouldn’t have taken part with them in shedding the prophets’ blood.’

Saying, If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have aided them in shedding the blood of the prophets.

You say, ‘If we had lived during the time of our ancestors, we would not have helped them kill the prophets.’

“You’re hopeless, you religion scholars and Pharisees! Frauds! You build granite tombs for your prophets and marble monuments for your saints. And you say that if you had lived in the days of your ancestors, no blood would have been on your hands. You protest too much! You’re cut from the same cloth as those murderers, and daily add to the death count.

and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have joined with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

and you claim that if you had lived during the time of your ancestors, you would not have done what they did and killed the prophets.

and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we should not have been their fellows in the blood of prophets.

and you say, ‘If we’d lived in the days of our ancestors, we wouldn’t have gone along with them in killing the prophets.’

And you claim you would not have taken part with your ancestors in killing the prophets.

saying, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

“What miserable frauds you are, you scribes and Pharisees! You build tombs for the prophets, and decorate monuments for good men of the past, and then say, ‘If we had lived in the times of our ancestors we should never have joined in the killing of the prophets.’ Yes, ‘your ancestors’—that shows you to be sons indeed of those who murdered the prophets. Go ahead then, and finish off what your ancestors tried to do! You serpents, you viper’s brood, how do you think you are going to avoid being condemned to the rubbish-heap? Listen to this: I am sending you prophets and wise and learned men; and some of these you will kill and crucify, others you will flog in your synagogues and hunt from town to town. So that on your hands is all the innocent blood spilt on this earth, from the blood of Abel the good to the blood of Zachariah, Barachiah’s son, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. Yes, I tell you that all this will be laid at the doors of this generation.

And you say, If we were in the yamim (days) of Avoteinu (our Fathers), we would not have been shuttafim (partners) with them in the dahm haNeviim (blood of the Prophets).

Then you say, ‘If we had lived at the time of our ancestors, we would not have helped to murder the prophets.’

and say, ‘If we lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have partaken with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

And you say, ‘If we had lived during the time of our ancestors, we would not have helped them kill these prophets.’

And you say, ‘If we had lived during the time of our fathers, we would not have helped them kill the prophets.’

and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in the blood of the prophets!’

And you say, “If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.”
