“The traders will cry and carry on because the bottom dropped out of business, no more market for their goods: gold, silver, precious gems, pearls; fabrics of fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet; perfumed wood and vessels of ivory, precious woods, bronze, iron, and marble; cinnamon and spice, incense, myrrh, and frankincense; wine and oil, flour and wheat; cattle, sheep, horses, and chariots. And slaves—their terrible traffic in human lives. Everything you’ve lived for, gone! All delicate and delectable luxury, lost! Not a scrap, not a thread to be found! “The traders who made millions off her kept their distance for fear of getting burned, and cried and carried on all the more: Doom, doom, the great city doomed! Dressed in the latest fashions, adorned with the finest jewels, in one hour such wealth wiped out! “All the ship captains and travelers by sea, sailors and toilers of the sea, stood off at a distance and cried their lament when they saw the smoke from her burning: ‘Oh, what a city! There was never a city like her!’ They threw dust on their heads and cried as if the world had come to an end: Doom, doom, the great city doomed! All who owned ships or did business by sea Got rich on her getting and spending. And now it’s over—wiped out in one hour!
“The fruit your soul desired has left you. All your costly and splendid things have passed away from you. No one will ever find them again.

And the apples that your soul lusted after are departed from you. And all things that were choice and precious to you are departed from you, and you shall find them no more.
The merchants say to her, “All the good things you longed to own have disappeared, and all your wealth and glamor are gone, and you will never find them again!”
And thine apples of the desire of thy life [And thine apples, the desires of thy life,] went away from thee, and all fatted things, and full clear perished [away] from thee.
All the fruit for which you longed has gone from you; all your luxuries and sparkling objects have been destroyed; you won’t find them anymore.
Babylon, the things your heart desired have all escaped from you. Every luxury and all your glory will be lost forever. You will never get them back.
“The fruit for which thy soul longed has gone from thee, and all thy dainties and thy splendor are lost to thee, never to be found again!”
The merchants of the earth shall also wail and lament over her, for there is no one left to buy their goods—cargoes of gold and silver, jewels and pearls, fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet, all kinds of scented wood, every sort of ivory vessel, every kind of vessel of precious wood, of bronze, iron and marble; cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour and corn; cattle, sheep and horses; chariots, slaves, the very souls of men.

The ripe fruits and delicacies of your soul’s desire have gone from you, and all things that were luxurious and extravagant are lost to you, never again to be found.
“The fruit for which your soul longed has gone from you, and all your delicacies and your splendours are lost to you, never to be found again!”
“The fruit you craved has left you. All your luxury and splendor are gone, never again will one find them.”
The fruit you long for has left you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and people will no longer find them.
The merchants will say [C implied by the context], “Babylon, the ·good things [L fruit] you ·wanted [desired; longed for] are gone from you. All your ·rich [expensive; luxurious] and ·fancy [glamorous; L shining] things have disappeared. You will never ·have [find] them again.”
The fruit of your soul’s desire has gone from you, and all the expensive and beautiful things are lost to you —never again will people find them.
“The fruit for which thy soul longed has gone from thee, and all thy dainties and thy splendor are lost to thee, never to be found again!”

The fruits you lusted for with all your heart have gone! All the luxury and flashiness have been destroyed, never to return!
The things that your heart wanted are gone from you. All your fine food and clothes are gone from you. You will never find them again.
‘The fruit for which your soul longed has gone from you, and all your dainties and your splendour are lost to you, never to be found again!’
“And the p’ri (fruit) for which your nefesh longed has departed from you, and all the luxurious things and the splendorous things have become lost for you, and never again shall they be found!
‘The fruit you craved is gone. All your luxuries and your splendor have disappeared. No one will ever find them again.’
‘The fruit that your soul lusted after has departed from you, and all the things which graceful and exquisite have departed from you, and you shall never find them.’
‘O Babylon, the good things you wanted have left you. All your rich and fancy things have disappeared. You will never have them again.’
They will say, “Babylon, the good things you wanted are gone from you. All your rich and fancy things have disappeared. You will never have them again.”
“And the fruit your soul desires has departed from you, and all the luxury and the splendor has perished from you, and they will never find them any more.”
‘They will say, “The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your luxury and splendour have vanished, never to be recovered.”
And the fruit of the desire of your soul departed from you; indeed all the rich things and shining things perished from you, and people will never find them anymore.
