si autem tu Iudaeus cognominaris et requiescis in lege et gloriaris in Deo
Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest in the law, and make your boast of God,
Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest in the law, and make your boast of God,
Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
Indeed you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and make your boast in God,
Behold, thou art called a Jew and rest in the law and make thy boast of God,
But if thou bearest the name of a Jew, and restest upon the law, and gloriest in God,
But if you are called from the Jews and are comforted by The Written Law and are boasting in God,
But if thou art named a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast in God,
But if thou art called a Jew and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
But if thou bearest the name of a Jew, and restest upon the law, and gloriest in God,
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God
You call yourself a Jew, rely on the laws in Moses' Teachings, brag about your God,
Now if you call yourself a Jew, and rest in the law, boast in God,
Now if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the Law, and boast about God,
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of your relationship to God
But if you bear the name "Jew " and rely upon the Law and boast in God,
Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God;
You who call yourselves Jews are relying on God's law, and you boast about your special relationship with him.
Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
And since you claim the name of Jew, and find rest and satisfaction in the Law, and make your boast in God,
Indeed you bear the name of a Jew, and rest on the law, and glory in God,
Do you say that you are a Jew? Maybe you trust in the Law that God gave to Moses. You are proud that you belong to God.
Lo, thou art named a Jew, and dost rest upon the law, and dost boast in God,
You are a Jew and think you are safe because of the Law. You tell others about how you know God.
Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest in the Law, and glory in God.
Listen, if you claim to be a Jew, count on the law, and boast in your relationship with God;
You Jews think all is well between yourselves and God because he gave his laws to you; you brag that you are his special friends.
You call yourself a Jew and rely on the Law and are proud of your relationship to God,
But if you bear the name “Jew” and rely upon the Law and boast in God,
Behold, thou doth call thyself a Jew and art supported by the law and doth glory in God
Now if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law, and boast in God,
But if you bear the name of Jew and rely upon the Law and pride yourselves in God and your relationship to Him,
What about you? You call yourself a Jew. You trust in the law of Moses and brag that you are close to God.
If you’re brought up Jewish, don’t assume that you can lean back in the arms of your religion and take it easy, feeling smug because you’re an insider to God’s revelation, a connoisseur of the best things of God, informed on the latest doctrines! I have a special word of caution for you who are sure that you have it all together yourselves and, because you know God’s revealed Word inside and out, feel qualified to guide others through their blind alleys and dark nights and confused emotions to God. While you are guiding others, who is going to guide you? I’m quite serious. While preaching “Don’t steal!” are you going to rob people blind? Who would suspect you? The same with adultery. The same with idolatry. You can get by with almost anything if you front it with eloquent talk about God and his law. The line from Scripture, “It’s because of you Jews that the outsiders frown on God,” shows it’s an old problem that isn’t going to go away.
Now if you call yourself a Jew, and you find your comfort in the law, and you boast in God;
But if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law, and boast in God,
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of your relation to God
Behold, you are called a Jew, and trust in the law, and put confidence in God,
What about you? You call yourself a Jew; you depend on the Law and boast about God;
But if thou art named a Jew [Forsooth if thou art named a Jew], and restest in the law, and hast glory in God,
But supposing you call yourself a “Jew.” Supposing you rest your hope in the law. Supposing you celebrate the fact that God is your God,
Some of you call yourselves Jews. You trust in the Law and take pride in God.
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely upon the law and boast of your relation to God
Now you, my reader, who bear the name of Jew, take your stand upon the Law, and are, so to speak, proud of your God. You know his plan, and are able through your knowledge of the Law truly to appreciate moral values. You can, therefore, confidently look upon yourself as a guide to those who do not know the way, and as a light to those who are groping in the dark. You can instruct those who have no spiritual wisdom: you can teach those who, spiritually speaking, are only just out of the cradle. You have a certain grasp of the basis of true knowledge. You have without doubt very great advantages. But, prepared as you are to instruct others, do you ever teach yourself anything? You preach against stealing, for example, but are you sure of your own honesty? You denounce the practice of adultery, but are you sure of your own purity? You loathe idolatry, but how honest are you towards the property of heathen temples? Everyone knows how proud you are of the Law, but that means a proportionate dishonour to God when men know that you break it! Don’t you know that: ‘the very name of God is cursed among the Gentiles because of the behaviour of Jews?’ There is, you know, a verse of scripture to that effect.
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of your relation to God
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of your relation to God
But, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the Law; if you brag about your relationship to God;
But if you bear the name “Jew” and rely on the Law [for your salvation] and boast in [your special relationship to] God,
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God
Now if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of God
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely upon the Law and boast in God,
What about you? You call yourself a Jew. You ·trust in [rely on] the ·law of Moses [L law] and ·brag that you are close to God [L boast in God].
But if you call yourself Jewish and rely upon the Torah and boast in God
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely upon the law and boast of your relation to God
Suppose you call yourself a Jew. You trust in the law. You brag that you know God.
Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
But if you call yourself a Jew and rest on Torah and boast about God
But you call yourselves Jews. You believe the law. You are proud of your God.
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of your relation to God
But if you are called by the name Yehudi (Jew) and rely on the Torah and boast in Hashem,
You call yourself a Jew, rely on the laws in Moses’ Teachings, brag about your God,
Indeed you are called a Jew, and rest in the law, and make your boast in God.
What about you? You say you are a Jew. You trust in the law and proudly claim to be close to God.
What about you? You call yourself a Jew. You trust in the law of Moses and brag that you are close to God.
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God
Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God;
But if you call-yourself a Jew, and rely upon the Law, and boast in God,
