and your children ask, ‘What does all this mean? What is this ceremony about?’
When your children ask you, ‘What does this rite of yours mean,’
And it will be when your children say to you, ‘What is the meaning of this new slavery to you?’
And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What do you mean by this service?
When your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’
When your children shall say to you, What do you mean by this service?
When your children ask you, ‘Why are we doing these things?’
“Keep this word. It’s the law for you and your children, forever. When you enter the land which God will give you as he promised, keep doing this. And when your children say to you, ‘Why are we doing this?’ tell them: ‘It’s the Passover-sacrifice to God who passed over the homes of the Israelites in Egypt when he hit Egypt with death but rescued us.’” The people bowed and worshiped.

And it shall come to pass, when your banim shall say unto you, Mah haavodah hazot lachem (What is this avodah to you)?
When your children ask you what this ceremony means to you,
And when your children shall say to you, ‘What does this service mean to you?’
When your children ask you, ‘Why are we doing this ceremony?’
When your children ask you, ‘Why are we doing these things?’
And when your children say to you, ‘What is this religious custom for you?’
