But Isaac and Rebekah were bitter about his marrying them.
They were a source of bitterness to Isaac and Rebekah.
and they brought bitterness to Isaac and Rebekah.
Who were bitterness of spirit unto Isaac and to Rebekah.
They made life bitter for Isaac and Rebekah.
And they made life bitter and a grief of mind and spirit for Isaac and Rebekah [their parents-in-law].
These women brought much sorrow to Isaac and Rebekah.
When Esau was forty years old he married Judith, daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath, daughter of Elon the Hittite. They turned out to be thorns in the sides of Isaac and Rebekah. * * *

These women brought much ·sorrow [bitterness] to Isaac and Rebekah [C because Esau had married outside the people of God].

Isaac and Rebekah became very upset because Esau had married Hittite women.

But they became a cause for embitterment of spirit to Yitz’chak and Rivkah.

and they were a morat ruach (grief of mind) unto Yitzchak and Rivkah.
These women brought Isaac and Rebekah a lot of grief.

These marriages made Isaac and Rebekah very unhappy.
