When will you stop running? When will you stop panting after other gods? But you say, 'Save your breath. I'm in love with these foreign gods, and I can't stop loving them now!'

Stop running after them! Your feet will hurt and you will become very thirsty. You say, “Do not try to stop us! We cannot turn back. We love foreign gods and we must serve them!”

I warn you again: stop running after these rituals till your feet are bare and your throat is dried out. You said, “I can’t help myself, for I love these strange gods I am chasing after.”
Why don’t you turn from all this weary running after other gods? But you say, “Don’t waste your breath. I’ve fallen in love with these strangers and I can’t stop loving them now!”
You should stop before you wear out your shoes and your throat becomes parched. But you said, “It is hopeless. I love these strangers, and I must go after them.”

Stop before your shoes wear out and your throat becomes dry! But you say, “It’s hopeless! I love strange gods, and I must pursue them.”
Keep your feet from going unshod and your throat from thirst. But you said, “It is hopeless, for I have loved strangers, and after them I will go.”
Israel, don't wear your feet out, or let your throat become dry from chasing after other gods. But you say, ‘No! I can't turn back. I have loved foreign gods and will go after them.’”
Forbid thy foot from nakedness, and thy throat from thirst; and thou saidest, I despaired, (for) I shall not do (that); for I loved burningly alien gods, and I shall go after them (for I have burningly loved these strange, or these foreign, gods, and I shall go after them).
