Even then I sent watchmen to warn you of what is to come. “Listen for the blaring of the trumpet,” I warned. But the people did not listen. They said, “We will not pay attention.”

Also I raised up sentinels for you: “Give heed to the sound of the trumpet!” But they said, “We will not give heed.”

Then the Lord appointed sentries to listen for the trumpet's warning. But they said, “We will not listen.”

And I ordained espyers, either beholders, on you, and I said, Hear ye the voice of a trump. And they said, We shall not hear (it).
