Behold, ye confide in words of falsehood that cannot profit.
Behold you put your trust in lying words, which shall not profit you:
Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.
“Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail.
" 'You are trusting the words of a saying. It's a lie that cannot help you.
But look, you keep trusting in deceitful words that cannot help.
"Look, you're trusting in deceptive words that cannot benefit.
"'But just look at you! You are putting your confidence in a false belief that will not deliver you.
"Behold, you are trusting in deceptive words to no avail.
But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.
"'Don't be fooled into thinking that you will never suffer because the Temple is here. It's a lie!
Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.
Behold, you trust in lying words, that can't profit.
But look at how you live now! You believe in lies that cannot save you.
Lo, ye are trusting for yourselves On the words of falsehood, so as not to profit.
“See, you are trusting in lies which cannot help you.
“But instead, you are clinging to lies and illusions that are worthless.
You think that because the Temple is here, you will never suffer? Don’t fool yourselves!
You have been placing your trust in deceitful words that are completely worthless.
“Behold, you are trusting in lying words to no avail.
Behold, ye trust in lying words that cannot profit.
But look, you keep trusting in deceitful words that cannot help.
Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot benefit [so that you do not profit].
“‘But look, you are trusting lies, which is useless.
“‘Get smart! Your leaders are handing you a pack of lies, and you’re swallowing them! Use your heads! Do you think you can rob and murder, have sex with the neighborhood wives, tell lies nonstop, worship the local gods, and buy every novel religious commodity on the market—and then march into this Temple, set apart for my worship, and say, “We’re safe!” thinking that the place itself gives you a license to go on with all this outrageous sacrilege? A cave full of criminals! Do you think you can turn this Temple, set apart for my worship, into something like that? Well, think again. I’ve got eyes in my head. I can see what’s going on.’” God’s Decree!
Take warning. You are trusting in deceptive words that cannot help you.
Here you are, trusting in deceptive words to no avail.
“Look, you put your trust in deceitful words.
Lo! ye trust to you in the words of leasing, that shall not profit to you; (Lo! ye trust in the words of lies, that shall not profit you;)
But just look at what is happening! You put your trust in worthless lies.
“Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail.
Here you are, trusting in deceptive words to no avail.
Here you are, trusting in deceptive words to no avail.
And yet you trust in lies that will only hurt you.
“Behold, you are trusting in deceptive and useless words that bring no benefit.
“Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail.
But look at you! You put your trust in deceptive words to your own loss!
“Behold, you are trusting in deceptive words to no avail.
“‘But look, you ·are trusting [have confidence in] ·lies [L false words], which is useless.
Look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are empty.
“Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail.
But look! You are trusting in worthless lies.
Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.
Look! You are relying on deceitful words that can’t do you any good.
Here you are, trusting in deceptive words to no avail.

“‘You are trusting the words of a saying. It’s a lie that cannot help you.
Indeed, you trust in lying words that cannot profit.
“‘But you are trusting lies that are worthless.
“‘But look! You are trusting lies. Such trust is useless.
Look, you are relying for yourselves on deceitful words without benefiting.
But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.
