"'Woe to me if I'm guilty! If I'm innocent, I cannot lift my head, because I am filled with disgrace. Look at my affliction!

If I am wicked, woe to me! And if I am righteous, I dare not lift up my head. I am sated with disgrace and conscious of my misery.
If I am guilty--woe to me! Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head, for I am full of shame and drowned in my affliction.
If I am guilty, too bad for me; and even if I'm innocent, I can't hold my head high, because I am filled with shame and misery.

If I am guilty of sin, that brings terrible trouble to me. But if I am righteous, I still feel ashamed. Whatever I do, I have nothing but shame and my life is full of trouble.
If I have done wickedly -- wo to me, And righteously -- I lift not up my head, Full of shame -- then see my affliction,
If I am sinful, it would be bad for me! If I am right and good, I cannot lift my head for I am filled with shame and see all my trouble.
If I am wicked, woe is me; even if I am innocent, I cannot take a chance and lift my head Because I’m gorged with disgrace. Gaze on my misery!
Just the slightest wickedness, and I am done for. And if I’m good, that doesn’t count. I am filled with frustration.
“ ‘Woe to me if I should be wicked. Even if I am righteous, I dare not lift up my head, for I am filled with shame and bent over with affliction.
If I am wicked, woe to me! And if I am righteous, I dare not lift up my head. I am sated with disgrace—so see my misery!
If I am wicked, woe unto me; and if I am righteous, I will not lift up my head, being full of dishonour and of seeing my affliction.
If I am wicked, woe to me! And even if I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head. I am filled with shame and have drunk deeply of my affliction.

How terrible it will be for me if I am guilty! Even if I am right, I cannot lift my head. I am full of shame and experience only pain.
“But you never told me about this part. I should have known that there was more to it— That if I so much as missed a step, you’d notice and pounce, wouldn’t let me get by with a thing. If I’m truly guilty, I’m doomed. But if I’m innocent, it’s no better—I’m still doomed. My belly is full of bitterness. I’m up to my ears in a swamp of affliction. I try to make the best of it, try to brave it out, but you’re too much for me, relentless, like a lion on the prowl. You line up fresh witnesses against me. You compound your anger and pile on the grief and pain!
If I was wicked, I would be cursed! But even if I was righteous, I could not lift up my head, because I am filled with shame and aware of my misery.
If I am wicked, woe to me! If I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head, for I am filled with disgrace and look upon my affliction.
As soon as I sin, I'm in trouble with you, but when I do right, I get no credit. I am miserable and covered with shame.
And if I was wicked, woe is to me; and if I was just, I shall not raise up mine head, that am full-filled with torment, and wretchedness. (And if I was wicked, woe is me; and if I was righteous, I shall still not raise up my head, I who am filled full of torment, and wretchedness.)
Guilty or innocent, I am condemned and ashamed because of my troubles.
