People waited patiently to hear to my advice. They listened carefully to what I said.
To me they have hearkened, Yea, they wait, and are silent for my counsel.
“Men listened to me and waited. They were quiet so they could hear my words of wisdom.
People used to listen to me, the sense of expectation visible on their faces; they waited in silence for my advice.
Everyone listened to me and valued my advice, and was silent until I spoke.
“Men waited expectantly to hear my words and listened in silence to my counsel.
“To me they listened and waited, And kept silent for my counsel.
They would hear me and wait, and keep silent at my counsel.
Men listened to me with expectation, waiting silently for my advice.
Men listened to me and waited and kept silence for my counsel.
“People listened to me carefully and waited quietly for my advice.
“Men and women listened when I spoke, hung expectantly on my every word. After I spoke, they’d be quiet, taking it all in. They welcomed my counsel like spring rain, drinking it all in. When I smiled at them, they could hardly believe it; their faces lit up, their troubles took wing! I was their leader, establishing the mood and setting the pace by which they lived. Where I led, they followed.”
People listened to me eagerly. They kept silent, waiting for my advice.

When I gave advice, people were silent and listened carefully to what I said;
They, that heard me, abided my sentence; and they were attentive, or taking heed to me, and they were still at my counsel. (They, who heard me, waited for my pronouncement; and they were attentive, or taking heed to me, and they listened to what I said.)
Everyone listened in silence to my welcome advice,
