nunc enim dormiens silerem et somno meo requiescerem
For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then would I have been at rest,
For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
For now I would have lain still and been quiet, I would have been asleep; Then I would have been at rest
For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept; then would I have been at rest
For now should I have lain down and been quiet; I should have slept; then had I been at rest,
For now should I have lain down and been quiet; I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
For now I should have been asleep and still, and should have rest in my sleep.
For now should I have lain down and been quiet; I should have slept; then had I been at rest:
For then I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept; then I would have been at rest,
Instead of being alive, I would now be quietly lying down. I would now be sleeping peacefully.
Now I would certainly be lying down in peace; I would be asleep. Then I would be at rest
"If I had died, I would be lying down by now, undisturbed, asleep, and at rest,
For now I would be lying down and would be quiet, I would be asleep and then at peace
"For now I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept then, I would have been at rest,
For now I would be lying down in peace; I would be asleep and at rest
Had I died at birth, I would now be at peace. I would be asleep and at rest.
For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
For now should I have lain down and been quiet. I should have slept, then I would have been at rest,
If I had died at birth, I would now be resting in peace.
For now, I have lain down, and am quiet, I have slept -- then there is rest to me,
For now I would have lain down and been quiet. I would have slept then. I would have been at rest,
If I had died, then I would now be reposed in quiet; I would be sleeping in peace,
For if only I had died at birth, then I would be quiet now, asleep and at rest,
“For now I would be lying in tranquility, asleep and resting peacefully
For now I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept then; it would have been rest to me,
For now I should have lain still and been quiet; I should have slept; then I would have been at rest,
Now I would certainly be lying down in peace; I would be asleep. Then I would be at rest
For then would I have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept; then would I have been at rest [in death]
If they had not been there, I would be lying dead in peace; I would be asleep and at rest
“Why didn’t I die at birth, my first breath out of the womb my last? Why were there arms to rock me, and breasts for me to drink from? I could be resting in peace right now, asleep forever, feeling no pain, In the company of kings and statesmen in their royal ruins, Or with princes resplendent in their gold and silver tombs. Why wasn’t I stillborn and buried with all the babies who never saw light, Where the wicked no longer trouble anyone and bone-weary people get a long-deserved rest? Prisoners sleep undisturbed, never again to wake up to the bark of the guards. The small and the great are equals in that place, and slaves are free from their masters.
For then I would be lying down peacefully. I would be sleeping and resting quietly
Now I would be lying down and quiet; I would be asleep; then I would be at rest
If I had died then, I would be at rest now,
For now I sleeping should be still, and I should rest in my sleep, (For then, now sleeping, I would be silent, and I would be resting in my sleep,)
Now I would be at peace in the silent world below
For then I should have lain down and been quiet; I should have slept; then I should have been at rest,
Now I would be lying down and quiet; I would be asleep; then I would be at rest
Now I would be lying down and quiet; I would be asleep; then I would be at rest
For now I would be lying down quietly; I’d sleep; rest would be mine
“For now I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept then, I would have been at rest [in death],
For then I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept; then I would have been at rest,
For then I should have lain down and been tranquil; had I slept, I should then have been at rest
For now I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept then, I would have been at rest,
If they had not been there, I would be lying dead in peace; I would be asleep and at rest
For now I would be lying down and quiet; I would be asleep and at rest
For then I should have lain down and been quiet; I should have slept; then I should have been at rest,
If all of that hadn’t happened, I would be lying down in peace. I’d be asleep and at rest in the grave.
For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
along with kings and their earthly advisers, who rebuilt ruins for themselves,
Now I would be lying down and quiet; I would be asleep; then I would be at rest
For atah (now) I would be lying still and quiet, have slept and been at rest,
Instead of being alive, I would now be quietly lying down. I would now be sleeping peacefully.
For now I would be lying down and would be at peace; I would have slept; then there would be rest for me,
If I had died when I was born, I would be at peace now. I wish I were asleep and at rest
If they had not been there, I would be lying dead in peace. I would be asleep and at rest.
For now I would lie down, and I would be at peace; I would be asleep; then I would be at rest
For now I would be lying down in peace; I would be asleep and at rest
