“And now I have become their song; I am a byword to them.
"And now they make fun of me with songs. I have become a joke to them.
Now I am mocked by their songs; I have become an object of scorn to them.
"Now, I've become the object of their mocking melodies; I'm nothing but a fool's proverb to them!
"And now I have become their taunt song; I have become a byword among them.
"And now I have become their taunt, I have even become a byword to them.
"And now those young men mock me in song; I have become a byword among them.
"And now they mock me with vulgar songs! They taunt me!
And now I am their song, yes, I am their by-word.
"Now I have become their song. Yes, I am a byword to them.
But now their sons sing songs that insult me. They tell jokes about me.
And now, their song I have been, And I am to them for a byword.
“Now they make fun of me in song. They laugh at me.
And now they sing of me in taunt and parody, and make my name a byword among them.
“And now I have become the subject of their ribald song! I am a joke among them!
“And these are the ones who speak mockingly about me; my name is a byword among them.
“And now I have become their mocking song; I have even become a taunting word to them.
And now I am their song, and I am their byword.
Now I am mocked by their songs; I have become an object of scorn to them.
And now I have become their song; yes, I am a byword to them.
“Now they make fun of me with songs; my name is a joke among them.
“But now I’m the one they’re after, mistreating me, taunting and mocking. They abhor me, they abuse me. How dare those scoundrels—they spit in my face! Now that God has undone me and left me in a heap, they hold nothing back. Anything goes. They come at me from my blind side, trip me up, then jump on me while I’m down. They throw every kind of obstacle in my path, determined to ruin me— and no one lifts a finger to help me! They violate my broken body, trample through the rubble of my ruined life. Terrors assault me— my dignity in shreds, salvation up in smoke.
But now I am the target of their mocking songs, and my name has become proverbial as a term of scorn.
“And now they mock me in song; I am a byword to them.
Now they come and laugh at me; I am nothing but a joke to them.
But now I am turned into the song of them, and I am made a proverb to them.
Those worthless nobodies make up jokes and songs to disgrace me.
“And now I have become their song, I am a byword to them.
“And now they mock me in song; I am a byword to them.
‘And now they mock me in song; I am a byword to them.
And now I’m their song; I’m their cliché!
“And now I have become [the subject of] their taunting; Yes, I am a byword and a laughingstock to them.
“And now I have become their song; I am a byword to them.
Yet now they sing of me in mockery; I have become a byword among them.
“And now I have become their taunt, And I have become a byword to them.
“Now ·they make fun of me with songs [I am the object of their melodious taunts]; my name is a ·joke [byword] among them.
“So now I have become their taunt song; I have become a byword to them.
“And now I have become their song, I am a byword to them.
“Now their children laugh at me. They make fun of me with their songs.
And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.
“Now I have become their song; yes, I am a byword with them.
‘And now they mock me in song; I am a byword to them.
And atah (now) am I their mocking song, yea, I am their byword.
“And now they make fun of me with songs. I have become a joke to them.
“Now I am their taunting song; yes, I am their byword.
“Now their sons sing songs to make fun of me. My name has become a bad word to them.
“Now they make fun of me with songs. My name has become a joke among them.
“But now I am their mocking song, and I have become a byword for them.
‘And now those young men mock me in song; I have become a byword among them.
