If it had not been Jehovah who was on our side, Let Israel now say,
If it was not Lord Jehovah who had stood for us, Israel shall say,

If it had not been that the Lord was with us, let Israel now say:

A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. A psalm of David. What if the LORD had not been on our side? Let all Israel repeat:

A song to sing as we climb. David wrote this song. If the Lord was not fighting for us, what would have happened? Israel's people, now answer:

A song of David for those journeying to worship. If the Eternal had not been with us— sing, Israel, sing—

If God hadn’t been for us —all together now, Israel, sing out!— If God hadn’t been for us when everyone went against us, We would have been swallowed alive by their violent anger, Swept away by the flood of rage, drowned in the torrent; We would have lost our lives in the wild, raging water.
Unless it was the Lord who was for us— let Israel say—
