It isn’t sacrifices and offerings that you really want from your people. Burnt animals bring no special joy to your heart. But you have accepted the offer of my lifelong service.
How innumerable, O Lord, my God, are the wonders you have worked; no one can compare with you in the plans you have made for us. I would proclaim them and recount them, but there are far too many to enumerate.

Doing something for you, bringing something to you— that’s not what you’re after. Being religious, acting pious— that’s not what you’re asking for. You’ve opened my ears so I can listen.

You do not ask for burnt offerings [Lev. 1:1–17] and ·sin [or purification] offerings [Lev. 4:3].
Many things You have done, Adonai my God —Your plans for us are wonderful— there is none to be compared to You! If I were to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to count!
