You drove out the pagan nations by your power and gave all the land to our ancestors. You crushed their enemies and set our ancestors free.

You used your power to chase away the other nations, so that our ancestors could live in their land. You punished those nations, and you helped our ancestors to be free.
Thou, [with] Thy hand, nations hast dispossessed. And Thou dost plant them. Thou afflictest peoples, and sendest them away.
With Your own hand You made the nations leave, and put our fathers in the land. You brought trouble upon the nations, and You spread them out.
With a powerful hand, You drove the nations from this land, but then You planted our parents here. You fought for us against people of this land; You set our parents free to enjoy its goodness.
O God, we have heard of the glorious miracles you did in the days of long ago. Our forefathers have told us how you drove the heathen nations from this land and gave it all to us, spreading Israel from one end of the country to the other.
O God, we have heard with our ears, our ancestors have told us, of the deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old.
You with Your own hand dispossessed the nations; Then You planted them; You afflicted the peoples, Then You cast them out.

In order to plant them, you displaced the nations by your hand; in order to settle them, you brought disaster on the peoples.
You drove out the nations with Your hand and it was Your power that gave [Israel] a home by rooting out the [heathen] peoples, but [Israel] You spread out.
With your power you forced the nations out of the land and placed our ancestors here. You destroyed those other nations, but you made our ancestors grow strong.
We’ve been hearing about this, God, all our lives. Our fathers told us the stories their fathers told them, How single-handedly you weeded out the godless from the fields and planted us, How you sent those people packing but gave us a fresh start. We didn’t fight for this land; we didn’t work for it—it was a gift! You gave it, smiling as you gave it, delighting as you gave it.
By your hand you drove out the nations, but you planted your people. You crushed the peoples, but you sent your people forward.

how you yourself drove out the heathen and established your people in their land; how you punished the other nations and caused your own to prosper.
Thine hand lost heathen men, and thou plantedest them (Thy hand destroyed the heathen/Thy power drove out the heathen, and thou plantedest our forefathers there); thou tormentedest (the) peoples, and castedest them out.
You chased off the nations by causing them trouble with your powerful arm. Then you let our ancestors take over their land.

With your great power you took this land from other people, and you gave it to us. You crushed those foreigners and forced them to leave this land.
With your power you forced the nations out of the land. You placed our ancestors here. You destroyed those other nations. But you made our ancestors grow strong.
You with your hand drove out the nations, but them you planted. You harmed the peoples, but them you let spread out.
With your hand you drove out the nations and planted our ancestors; you crushed the peoples and made our ancestors flourish.
