My companion stretched out his hand against his friends; he violated his covenant.
[My best friend] has betrayed his friends. He has broken his solemn promise.
My friend acts violently against those at peace with him; he violates his covenant.
Each of my friends raises his hand against his allies; each of my friends breaks his word.
He attacks his friends; he breaks his solemn promises to them.

But my friend has turned against his own friends. He has not been a true friend, as he promised to be.
He hath sent forth his hands against his well-wishers, He hath polluted his covenant.
He goes against those who were at peace with him. He has broken his agreement.
My friend has become a foe, breaking faith, tearing down peace. He’s betrayed our covenant.
This friend of mine betrayed me—I who was at peace with him. He broke his promises.
God will hear me and humiliate them, he who has been enthroned forever. Selah For they neither change their ways nor have any fear of God.
My companion has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; He has violated his covenant.
He has put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him; he has defiled his covenant.
My friend acts violently against those at peace with him; he violates his covenant.
[My companion] has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; he has broken and profaned his agreement [of friendship and loyalty].
The one who was my friend attacks his friends and breaks his promises.
And this, my best friend, betrayed his best friends; his life betrayed his word. All my life I’ve been charmed by his speech, never dreaming he’d turn on me. His words, which were music to my ears, turned to daggers in my heart.
The traitor reaches out his hand against those at peace with him. He breaks his agreement.

My former companion attacked his friends; he broke his promises.
he holdeth forth his hand in yielding. They defouled his testament, (indeed, they put forth their hands, against those who be at peace with them. They have broken their promise, or their covenant,)
My friend turned against me and broke his promise.

God, who sits enthroned forever, will hear me and afflict them. Selah For they will not mend their ways; they have no fear of God.

·The one who was my friend attacks his friends [L He sends his hand against his friend] and ·breaks [violates; profanes] his ·promises [covenant; treaty].
God will hear and humble them —yes, the One enthroned of old. Selah Nothing changes—they do not fear God.
