Then Tobit answered his son Tobiah, “We each signed a document that I divided into two parts, one for each of us. I kept one part, and I put the other part with the money. Twenty years have now elapsed since I left this money in his care. So now, my son, you must find a trustworthy man who will accompany you. We will pay him wages until you return. But go and collect the money from Gabael.”
Then Tobit answered his son Tobias, “He gave me his bond and I gave him my bond. I divided his in two; we each took one part, and I put one with the money. And now twenty years have passed since I left this money in trust. So now, my son, find yourself a trustworthy man to go with you, and we will pay him wages until you return. But get back the money from Gabael.”
Tobit replied, Gabael and I both signed a document. I then tore it in two, and we each took a half. I put his half with the money. That was twenty years ago! Now, go and find a reliable person to travel with you to Media and back, and we will pay him when you return. But you must get the money that I left with Gabael.
Then his father answered to him, and said, Certainly I have his obligation here with me, which the while thou showest it to him, he shall restore anon (or at once) the money. [Then his father answered to him, and said, Forsooth his writ with me I have, the which when thou to him showest, anon he shall yield the money.]
Then Tobit gave him the receipt, and said to him, “Find a man to go with you and I will pay him wages as long as I live; and go and get the money.”

Then Tobit said to his son Tobias, “He gave me a signed receipt, and I gave him a handwritten document as well. I divided them in two, and we each took one part, and I deposited one with the money. And now it is twenty years since I deposited this money. So then go find a reliable man who will go with you, and we will pay him for his time until you return. Then you can retrieve this money from Gabael.”
Tobit answered his son Tobiah: “He gave me his bond, and I gave him mine; I divided his into two parts, and each of us took one part; I put one part with the money. It is twenty years since I deposited that money! So, son, find yourself a trustworthy person who will make the journey with you, and we will give him wages when you return; but bring back that money from Gabael while I am still alive.”
Then Tobit gave him the receipt, and said to him, “Find a man to go with you and I will pay him wages as long as I live; and go and get the money.”
